Sat. June 19th Sabine Lake!!

Fished Saturday morning with Jeff, Brad, and Shelia. The morning bite was fast and furious. We had 50 trout in the boat by 9:30 and a few reds.   Shelia landed a beautiful 26inch redfish that weighed 7 pounds. It was her first one ever and what a way to do it!  Key on bird action in the lake and the jetties are also producing nice limits of trout.  Soft plastics is the way to go right now but live bait will work really well at the jetties!019021

Sabine Lake Still Producing Limits!!

photo030photo030_photo03011photo163photo163_photo1631Sabine Lake trout are hungry and are waiting for you  to catch them right now! Trout and redfishing has been very productive early which makes it  enjoyable whenever you can catch  limits before the heat of the day settles in. Dont get me wrong fishing can be very productive in the middle of the day but when its an early bite take advantage of it. Trout and redfish have been all over the lake here latley but the better bite seems to be on the North end of the lake. We are drifting in 3-5ft of water and throwing topwaters early. After the topwater bite ends the most productive tatic working is a popping court with soft plastic. Fish with an eighth ounce jighead with a clear H&H sparkle beetle or DOA shrimp. The fish are slammimg them!  Good luck fishing and remember to drink plenty of liquids to stay hydrated

Sabine Lake Trout!!

As hot as the weather has been, the trout fishing right now is running a tight race with it. This morning was suppose to be a day off from the water but at the last minute a buddy of mine just had to go fishing. Well knowing that I had other plans such as all the honey do’s, I was able to slip back into Sabine Lake around 7:oo a.m. Just a few hours was all we needed to quickly boat ten0_00_0_0_01 reds and two limits of trout. We actually had our limits in the first thirty minutes of fishing but we decided  two catch and release another couple of limits. We found atleast an acre of trout this morning steadily blowing shrimp out of the water! It was an  awesome morning. If the trout continue to bite this great, It want take long to fill limits. Then maybe I could get those honey do’s knocked out!! Book your trips now on Sabine Lake! Dates are filling fast!!653

6 man Redfish Limit = 1 hour

The red fish in the Sabine Lake ecosystem right now is totally amazing. Everytime I have fished in the marshes each trip has been averaging at least 40 redfish per hour. Red fish from 15 -30 inch are plentiful. Today, John,Jarred, Ethan, and Larry got some rod bending action. We fished about two hours and landed around 60-80 redfish. Simply amazing!!  Book your trips now if you would love to experience this extreme fishing!!  034

Sat May 29th

020Despite the beautiful weather conditons on Saturday, the speckled trout fishing was tough. Fortunatley, my clients were able to experience some phenominal redfishing the day before. It sure gives a guide a sense of satisfaction when you are with someone that catches their biggest fish with you. Thats what exactly happened to Mr. Doug on Friday afternoon. He did not only catch several redfish in the 8-9pound range but  on Sat, he battled with a 25 pound bull red for at least 30 minutes. We didn’t land the big redfish but had it to the boat several times and got some great looks at her. Also Tommy,Harold, and Dave worked on the redfish Friday afternoon. We released all the redfish we caught.  Speckled trout fishing will improve of course, it was just one of those days  we didn’t catch many but we caught nice solid size trout. Enjoyed it guys,018014019 016we will definitley do it again!!

Surf Fishing Firing Up!!

It seems to always happen this time of year in late May. The winds finally begin to lay in the “big pond”, the Gulf of Mexico,  and that beautiful green trout water engages itself along the beach front. The water temperature has finally reached the magic number of eighty degrees.  With these two conditons combined it produces some of the heaviest sow trout caught along the surf this time of year. To make matters even more productive, there is a full moon going on now. These big speckled trout are full of eggs and are roaming the surf to release them in the salty currents of the Gulf of Mexico. Eventually high tides will disperse these millions of eggs into the surrounding estuaries, thus starting the nonstop  life cycle of speckled trout. Fish topwaters early along the surf and I like to switch to finger mullet afterwards. Fish finger mullet on a quarter ounce jighead is deadly. Good luck  fishing and try to  release the big ones!0030020051

Redfish was the ticket!!

603Fished Saturday with Rusty,Tim, and Robert and caught around 80 redfish and 15 trout. The wind was a big factor today as we were trying to get the yellow mouths into the boat.  After about two hours of fighting the wind and not to mention all the boats we decided to make a move to the marsh.  We caught redfish from 10:30 to 2:00 nonstop! Redfish from 15 inch to 15 pounds. It was the best red 600fishing I have seen in years. I know some guys who will be icing down some sore arms tonight! Enjoyed it guys!!

Double Limit Sabine Lake Trout and Redfish

Fished Friday with CJ and Dave and just wore the fish out on Sabine Lake. We started on the South end of the lake and had our 45 trout by 8:30 and caught our 15 redfish limit by 11:oo. What an awesome day. Fish are hitting soft plastics and topwaters very consistently. Book you trips now for some fast and596599 furious  action! Memorial weekend I have a Sunday opening still available.

Still Hitting Topwaters!!

Let the wind lay for just a couple of hours and the topwater bite is on. Yesterday afternoon I fished with Glen Grantham for a few hours and we easily limited on trout. We left them biting. Trout were blowing mullet and shrimp out of the water. Most of the trout were in the 2-3 pound range but Glen stuck the biggest trout  of the afternoon right at 26′inch.  Book your trips now and lets go catch some fish!0_00_0_0_0110_00_0_0_02

Sabine Lake Fishing IS Hot!!

fishingThis past weekend on Sabine Lake was an outstanding bite on Sabine Lake.  Speckled trout and redfish were caught in many different areas of the lake. This is good news for fishermen who like to fish in there favorite areas North or South end of the lake. Fishing slicks has been very productive lately. When I refer to fishing slicks, i am targeting an oily looking spot on top of the surface of the water. Slicks are formed from fish feeding in the area. Usually fish have been eating mullet, pogy,or shrimp. Trout and redfish have eaten so much that they are regurgitating  their meals. When fishing slicks slowly drift into the area.  Take your time and try not to spook any of the fish. Topwaters and plastics are great types of baits to present to trout and redfish in slicks. Also a good slick will have a strong watermelon like smell. Try fishing slicks this month and I do believe you will be greatly rewarded.
